Before/After School and Interim Break Care

Before and After School Care


Hale Keiki School supports working families! 

Hale Keiki offers a comprehensive selection for care before school, after school, and interim days when there is no school. We hope that you find what fits best for your family's needs.

BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL CARE COSTS

AFTER SCHOOL CARE (ASC)

 

The After School Care Program is provided for students on a full-time, standing, or casual basis for an additional fee. The hours are from class dismissal time to 6:00 p.m. Arrangements for full-time care must be requested and canceled using the form linked below.

Students in preschool and prekindergarten are required to bring a crib sheet to be used as a cot cover and a lightweight blanket or beach towel for their scheduled nap/rest period.

ASC PLACEMENT 
After-School Care is accommodated with the following priorities:

Full-time care is signed up for at registration or at the beginning of the school year.

Full-time care during the school year with one-month advance notice.

Standing reservations at the beginning of the school year with the school giving a one-month cancellation notice if necessary.

Standing reservation during the school year with one-month advance notice and school giving a one-month cancellation notice if necessary.

ASC DISMISSAL
Parents must sign out their child when picked up from ASC for all grade levels. Parents are to report to the staff member on duty for the sign-out sheet. At 5:00 p.m., all remaining students move to room 366-1 for pick-up.

After-School Care ends promptly at 6:00 p.m. Parents must make arrangements in advance for their child to be picked up by 6:00 p.m. for occasions when they are not able to do so.

ASC LATE PICK-UP FEES 
Any student not picked up by 6:00 p.m. will be subject to a penalty fee of $40 for a late pick-up. Repeated late pick-ups will not be tolerated. After the third offense, the use of the After School Care Program will be suspended for four weeks.

FULL-TIME CARE
Students must be signed up in advance for full-time care. Full-time care is offered when school is in session. Payment for full-time care is made with the tuition payment on the 15th of each month.

CASUAL CARE
Please make reservations for casual care at least three days in advance.

Casual Care is based on the availability of openings in the ASC program. (Full-time ASC students have first priority for ASC Care.) Casual care cost is based on student grade level. The cost will be assessed in the following month's tuition payment.  

STANDING RESERVATIONS
Standing Reservations are only available for up to three days each week.

BEFORE SCHOOL CARE (BSC)

 

Unless arrangements have been made for Before School Care (BSC), students may not be dropped off before 7:30 a.m. Parents who require earlier drop-off may arrange Early Bird Care or Before School Care for their child(ren).

EARLY BIRD CARE
Early Bird Care is from 6:00 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. Only students enrolled in the Early Bird Care may be dropped off during these hours. This service is provided on a full-time basis only; drop-ins can only be accommodated for emergencies only with the approval of the office. Reservations must be requested and canceled using the Care form linked above.

Parents using Early Bird Care must walk their child to their assigned classroom and sign the student in with a staff member. Early Bird Care reservations are paid for with the current month's tuition.

BEFORE SCHOOL CARE
A limited number of students can be accommodated in Before School Care, which begins at 7:00 a.m. This service is provided on a full-time basis only; drop-ins can only be accommodated for emergencies only with the approval of the office. Reservations must be requested and cancelled in writing; forms are available in the office and online.

Parents using the Before School Care must walk their child to the BSC classroom and sign the student in with the assigned staff member. Before School Care reservations are paid for with the current month's tuition.

INTERIM CARE

 

Limited care is provided during Fall Break (October), Spring Break (March), and some days in May and June between the end of school and the beginning of the summer session.  Information and fees are published online prior to the sign-up period.  Space is limited with priority given to children enrolled in full-time after-school care, dual-working parents, and single parents.

Your child’s provider and building number will be posted on the bulletin board in front of the office the week before interim care begins.

You must sign your child in and out with the provider, in their classroom. After 5:00 p.m. all children will move to Building 366-1 for pick up.

Please remember to send a healthy lunch (no hot lunches or pizzas available during interim care) and sleeping items for those in preschool and prekindergarten.

Please note that there are no casual care days during interim care. If a school holiday falls during interim care, your child’s care rate will be pro-rated.
