Learning Goals for Preschool (End of Year Expectations)


Students will:
  • Ask questions and seek to learn more about the world around them. 
  • Socialize with peers and teachers and improve communication skills.
  • Improve their fine and gross motor skills.
  • Learn basic scissor skills, and practice cutting, gluing, and other fine motor skills. 
  • Use a large crayon or pencil with proper grip.
  • Name all the letters in the alphabet and a few sounds.
  • Rote count to 10 and be able to assign the correct number of objects to a given number. 
  • Sit for an extended time to listen to directions or a story, 
  • Understand and utilize basic concepts for taking turns, sharing, and communicating.
  • Learn self-help and independent skills.
  • Learn about naming, expressing, and regulating emotions. 
  • Learn about responsibility through classroom jobs and taking care of personal and school belongings.
  • Explore science through hands-on activities.
  • Recognize and trace their name.
  • Learn colors and shapes.

What does my child need to start?
  • To be fully potty trained
  • A complete change of clothes including shoes 
  • A reusable water bottle-labeled with name
  • A backpack with a complete change of clothes- all items labeled with child’s name
  • If staying for aftercare, a lunch (Can be provided through our vendor), and a blanket and pillow for nap time.
What skills should my incoming preschooler have?
  • Be fully potty trained
  • Ability and willingness to listen to and follow simple directions and have an eagerness to learn
