Learning Goals for Prekindergarten (End of Year Expectations)


Students will:
  • Ask questions and seek to learn more about the world around them.
  • Socialize with peers and teachers and improve communication skills.
  • Improve their fine and gross motor skills.
  • Improve basic scissor skills, and practice cutting, gluing, and other fine motor skills.
  • Use a pencil with a proper grip.
  • Name all the letters in the alphabet (upper and lower case) and know sounds for most letters.
  • Rote count to 20 and be able to assign the correct number of objects to a given number.
  • Successfully identify patterns, colors, and shapes. 
  • Sit for an extended time to listen to directions or a story.
  • Understand and utilize basic concepts for taking turns, sharing, and communicating.
  • Improve self-help skills and independence.
  • Explore science through hands-on activities.

What does my child need to start?
  • To be fully potty trained
  • A complete change of clothes including shoes
  • A reusable water bottle- labeled with name
  • A backpack with a complete change of clothes- all items labeled with child’s name
  • If staying for aftercare, a lunch (Can be provided through our vendor), and a blanket and pillow for nap time
What skills should my incoming prekindergartner have?
  • Be fully potty trained
  • Ability and willingness to listen and follow simple directions and have an eagerness to learn
