Learning Goals for Prekindergarten (End of Year Expectations)
Students will:
- Ask questions and seek to learn more about the world around them.
- Socialize with peers and teachers and improve communication skills.
- Improve their fine and gross motor skills.
- Improve basic scissor skills, and practice cutting, gluing, and other fine motor skills.
- Use a pencil with a proper grip.
- Name all the letters in the alphabet (upper and lower case) and know sounds for most letters.
- Rote count to 20 and be able to assign the correct number of objects to a given number.
- Successfully identify patterns, colors, and shapes.
- Sit for an extended time to listen to directions or a story.
- Understand and utilize basic concepts for taking turns, sharing, and communicating.
- Improve self-help skills and independence.
- Explore science through hands-on activities.

What does my child need to start?
- To be fully potty trained
- A complete change of clothes including shoes
- A reusable water bottle- labeled with name
- A backpack with a complete change of clothes- all items labeled with child’s name
- If staying for aftercare, a lunch (Can be provided through our vendor), and a blanket and pillow for nap time
What skills should my incoming prekindergartner have?
- Be fully potty trained
- Ability and willingness to listen and follow simple directions and have an eagerness to learn
