Learning Goals for Fourth Grade (End of Year Expectations)


Students will:
  • Ask questions and seek to learn more about the world around them. 
  • Socialize with peers and teachers and improve communication skills.
  • Learn to become responsible and respectful individuals.
  • Follow a scope and sequence that will guide them into learning spelling rules and building foundations in understanding word meanings. Breaking down spelling rules, as well as examining affixes and root word bases.
  • Conduct various novel studies analyzing and interpreting literary and informational texts from various genres throughout the year. 
  • Explore specific types of writing- Narrative, Opinion/Persuasive, and Informational. They will engage in following the writing process in which they will brainstorm, draft, revise, and edit before publishing.
  • Focus on Place Value, Multiplication and Geometry, Fractions and Decimals, Multi-digit multiplication, Fractions and Mixed number Computation, Division, Angles, Multiplication of a Fraction by a Whole Number, Measurement, Fractions Operations, and Applications.  
  • Study the world around them by investigating, problem-solving, and thinking critically like a scientist.
  • Study Hawaiian history and geography.

What does my child need to start?
  • A backpack
  • Lunch (can be provided through our vendor)

  • A respectful attitude and eagerness to learn
  • Successful completion of an accredited 3rd grade program.
